The Pena National Palace is located in Sintra, Portugal. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th century Romanticism in the world.
The first thing I noticed about this shot was the yellowish yet cool color theme. The whole atmosphere makes me think of an old photo of some distant palace...perhaps in Narnia... The focus is very good, and I like the brown creeping in around the edges. If there was one thing I had to change, I would crop the spray of foliage jutting up on the right side. It looks rather odd. Other then that, the composition is lovely. A slight randomization of the brown border stain might help too, currently, it make the whole photo appear slightly button-like. Overall, beautiful photo, and lovely effects!
Indeed it could being a 19th period palace it could share with us some very interesting stories, since it was an old monestary bought by a portuguese king it became a royal holiday vacation palace it has a mixture of styles and a still is one of the most beautifull palaces in Sintra and one of the most beautifull romatic buildings in the world. Aw, one more thing... it is near to my house!
You are very lucky to live near such beautiful sites.. I live in the Flint Hills [link] area of the USA and consider it picturesque for natural scenic shots but not much for old architectural shots. I am a big fan of ornate old buildings and castles and especially fond of very good photography of said buildings.. Thanks..
Wonderful photo, I love the angle you chose to use and the lighting really adds to the atmosphere of the image. I love the majestic look of the castle as well. The composition is fantastic and overall, it is very well-executed. Awesome work!
